Red Hawks Break Scoring Drought But Still Fall Short of Victory

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women's soccer team faced the University of Antelope Valley at the Simpson Soccer and lost 2-1.
The Red Hawks had a much improved performance against the Pioneers. Antelope Valley’s Giselle Cruz-Martinez scored in the 36th to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. In the second half, the Pioneers took a 2-0 lead off Alexis Ramirez’s goal in the 81st minute. Simpson got on the board when junior Brook Gaddy scored a solo goal in the 89th minute, but was too late and the Red Hawks lost 2-1.
Junior Brittany Mattingly recorded nine saves and allowed two goals. Gaddy and freshman Erin Delgado each recorded three shots and one shot on goal. Senior Amanda Tedesco recorded one shot and one shot on goal.
The Red Hawks return to action against SOKA on Oct. 3. Kick-off set for 3 p.m.
