Lady Red Hawks Struggle Offensively Against Golden Eagles

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s softball team traveled to Riverside, Calif., to take on the La Sierra Golden Eagles in a doubleheader on April 3. The Red Hawks lost game one 7-1 and game two 9-1.

In game one, the Red Hawks struggled to score, as they were able to compile six hits but only convert one of them into a run. This lone run came in the fourth inning when Amanda Laughlin showcased her speed when she scored on a stolen base. This one run was not enough for the Red Hawks as the Golden Eagles were on fire offensively and won game one 7-1.

Kacey Pokorny received the loss, pitching three innings and allowing six hits and three runs.

In game two, Simpson continued to struggle offensively. In the top of the third, the Red Hawks scored their only run of the game when Courtney Thomas singled to center and Aleisha Brown scored. The Red Hawks were led by the offensive effort of Jessica Dager, who earned went 2-for-3 from the plate.

The Golden Eagles scored nine runs off of nine hits and were led by Melanie Vidaurri, when went 3-for-4 from the plate.

Paris Hallums received the loss, pitching three innings and allowing five hits and six runs.
