Lady Red Haws Split Doubleheader With Oaks

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s softball team hosted a doubleheader against the Menlo Oaks on April 17. The Red Hawks won game one 11-2 and lost game two 10-0.
Game one showcased the Red Hawks’ offensive power which started with a four-run first inning. Ryan Norton scored the first run of the game off a Courtney Thomas single. This was followed by a Jessica Dager RBI that scored Kaylana Mah. Dager and Angelica Cisneros reached home off a Rachel Esse double to deep left-center. The Red Hawks added another run in the second inning when Norton scored off of a fielder’s choice. Simpson added six more runs in the fourth, and the Oaks scored two runs in the fifth which gave the Red Hawks the 11-2 victory.
Paris Hallmus received the win. She pitched all five innings and threw an impressive nine strikeouts.
The Red Hawks struggled to continue this offensive streak in game two. They were shut out 10-0 in five innings.
Amy Rodriguez received the loss, pitching four innings and allowing eight hits and 10 runs.
