Simpson Shuts Outs Eagles to Advance to NCCAA Championship Game

TROUTVILLE, Va. - The No. 2 Simpson University softball team was in action for the second time on May 14 when they faced the No. 4 Oklahoma Christian University Eagles in the semi-finals of the NCCAA Softball World Series. It was a closely contested game, and the Red Hawks were able to take the 2-0 victory over the Eagles.
The Eagles loaded the bases in the bottom of the third inning, but another strong pitching performance by Paris Hallums, this time in relief, shut down the threat and the Red Hawks held on to their lead.
The Red Hawks added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning when Aliesha Brown singled and scored on a wild pick-off attempt to give the Red Hawks a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles threatened to score multiple times and loaded the bases four times, but Hallums was up for the task as the Eagles strand 14 base runners in the game.
Hallums earned her third win of the tournament, pitching 4.2 innings of relief and allowing no runs on four hits and striking out two.
The Red Hawks now advance to the championship game on Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m. PST/ 2 p.m. EST. Their opponent has yet to be determined.
