Lady Red Hawks Go 1-1 on Day Two of Northwest Cup

HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. - The Simpson University softball team continued to compete in the Northwest Cup hosted by Concordia University-Portland on Feb. 21. On the first day of tournament play, the Red Hawks earned victories against College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon University.
The Lady Red Hawks opened day two play with their second game against Easter Oregon University. Simpson dominated the game and won 13-5.
Simpson exploded in the fourth and fifth innings and posted an impressive 12 runs of their 13 against the Mountaineers. Along with this solid offensive outing, the Red Hawks were also able to hold the Mountaineers to five runs. The offensive catalysts for the Red Hawks were Jessica Dager, who went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Julissa Castellanos, who went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Aleisha Brown 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Ryan Norton, who went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Amy Rodriguez earned the win for the Red Hawks. She had five strikeouts.
In the second game of the day, the Lady Red Hawks faced Southern Oregon University. The Raiders defeated Simpson 4-1.
