Lady Red Hawks Shut Out Southern Oregon

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s softball team displayed their talent against the visiting Southern Oregon University Raiders on Feb. 27. The Lady Red Hawks earned the shut out, defeating the Raiders 7-0.

The Red Hawks sat comfortably with the lead from the start. In the bottom of the first inning, Kaylana Mah hit a double, followed with a hit by Ryan Norton, which allowed Mah to score off an error by the Raiders. Norton also scored in the first off an RBI from Marissa Bravo.

In the bottom of the second, Simpson took the lead from 2-0 to a comfortable 7-0. With five runs in the second and RBIs by Bravo, Courtney Thomas, and Jessica Dager, Simpson kept the 7-0 lead and finished with a shutout. Paris Hallums earned the win for the Red Hawks and showed impressive grit by allowing only four hits the entire game.

The Red Hawks take on the visiting Oregon Tech Owls at 3 p.m. on Feb. 27.
