Simpson picks up win against Cal Baptist

IRVINE, Calif. - Simpson University (1-4) got its first win of the season against California Baptist University when they split a doubleheader on Thursday, Jan 28. The Red Hawks' Kenny Button and Aarason Perry each racked up an RBI in the 4-2 game one victory.

California Baptist wasn’t deterred and answered back with a 15-0 victory later in the afternoon. The Lancers tallied 13 RBIs and 17 hits in the game. Drew Madrigal, who accounted for three runs, two RBIs and three hits, led the Lancers. 

Friday, Jan. 29 concluded the three game series with the Lancers. Simpson bounced back from the 15-0 loss and was able to contain the juggernaut Baptist offense by holding them to six runs. Simpson got three runs as Chris Rabichaud, Jake Gill, and Kenny Button each had an RBI in the 6-3 loss.

The split marked the earliest season victory for the Red Hawks in two years. The Red Hawks now look to continue their winning ways when they face Biola University on Saturday, Jan.30 at 1p.m. in La Mirada, Calif.
