College: Vargas is entering his second season with the Red Hawks. His hard work and aggressiveness proved to be important in the Red Hawks backcourt last season, and they will be looking for more of that as the new season begins.

High School: Jordan is from Victorville, Calif., where he attended Hesperia Christian High School. Jordan played four years of varsity basketball there. He also did track and field and cross-country. His athletic awards include two-time league MVP (06-07, 08-09), First Team All-League (07-08), and First Team All-CIF (08-09). His academic achievements include being on the Dean's List and being the valedictorian of his high school graduating class.

Personal: Jordan is the son of Richard and Catherine Vargas. His hobbies include long boarding, acting, singing, athletics, music, computers, card collecting, and spending time with family and friends. He is a mathematics major, and his career goal is to be a teacher/professor.

Reason for coming to Simpson: "I chose Simpson because I felt that the school would do an excellent job of preparing me for life beyond the classroom. It be a challenge to be away from my home in Southern California, but additionally, I will have the chance to grow spiritually, mentally, and physically."
