College: VanSchooten is entering her third season running cross country for the Red Hawks. She won the Red Hawk Award in 2012 and 2013 and was a NAIA Nationals participant. She was a member of the 2013 Cal Pac cross country championship team. Her academic honors include being on the Dean’s List.

High School: VanSchooten ran three years of varsity cross country at Enterprise High School, where she also played basketball and competed in track and field. She received the CIF Sportsmanship Award in 2011 and Record Searchlight Northern Section basketball honors. Her team won the North State Basketball Championship in 2010. She was a scholar-athlete and a member of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.

Personal: Jackie is the daughter of Cindy and Tim VanSchooten. She enjoys anything that involves outdoorsy activities, including hiking, chasing waterfalls, hanging out with her dog, longboarding, getting on the roofs of random buildings, sweet road trips, and traveling. She also enjoys good books that aren't textbooks, TPing, eating soft pretzels, and getting into mischief.

Reason for coming to Simpson: "I chose Simpson because it’s a great school and close to home."
