Personal: Karissa is the daughter of Julie Scheuermann. She loves dancing, reading, running, and singing. She also likes worshiping God, swimming, sleeping, the outdoors, backpacking, doing homework and making things. However, the running, the outdoors, and dancing are her true passions. She enjoys running on the beach and watching every sunset. She tries to glorify God in all she does, and the joy of The Lord is her strength. Her favorite verse is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength.” Her dream is to qualify and run the Boston Marathon for her dad since he died before he got his chance to run it. She wants to have his passion kept alive and never wants to stop trying or give up on that dream.
Reason for coming to Simpson: "I chose Simpson because I really wanted to attend a Christian college. So when I heard about Simpson at Alliance Redwoods Youth Group Summer Camp, I was definitely intrigued and really wanted to know. Out of all the brochures I could have picked up, the major I chose was outdoor leadership because the brochure caught my eye and it was then that I knew that I wanted to work in the outdoors. The outdoors is where I feel closest to God beside when I am running, and this was when I started to realize that there could be great potential for me in this major. It wasn't until later on that I felt that God was calling me to go to Simpson and now every time I am there, the campus feels like home. Although I am not totally sure what I want to do when I after college, I know that no matter where life takes me, I am going to fully trust and follow God. I will go where ever he leads me, but until than I will keep praying, and growing stronger in my faith, so I can be closer to God."
