Women's Volleyball Coaching Staff

HEAD COACH: Thomas Kirst

Thomas Kirst was hired as Simpson University’s head women’s volleyball coach in July 2013. He has coached at the college and high school levels. He was a guest coach for VBClinics.com held at The Foundry in San Francisco by Olympic gold medalist Pat Powers.

Athletics are a big part of Kirst’s life. He has been an active indoor and beach volleyball player for 30 years. He participates in four softball leagues and one volleyball league at Big League Dreams in Redding, Calif.

Kirst resides in Palo Cedro, Calif. He is a father of three: sons Kevin and Kyle and daughter Chasey.

Hailey Hurley was hired as Simpson University’s assistant women's volleyball coach in June 2014. She is a Redding local who played volleyball and graduated from Enterprise High School. She attended Shasta College and CSU Chico, where she studied psychology. Hailey has continued to play volleyball locally on city league teams, and physical fitness is an important part of her life. This will be her first experience coaching on a collegiate level, but she has had extensive experience playing and helping with camps and coaching on lower levels. Her sister Hillary is a professional volleyball player in Finland, so volleyball has always been and will always be a passion. She is very excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Red Hawk family!
