College: Duren is returning for her second season with the Red Hawks. She transferred from former California Pacific Conference rival Bethany University prior to the 2011 season. She received Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-California Pacific Conference, and Bethany team MVP honors prior to coming to Simpson. She earned 2011-2012 First Team All-Cal Pac honors for her play at Simpson.

High School: Duren played volleyball at Ripon High School. During her playing career she has racked up many individual awards and accolades, including being named the Modesto Bee Volleyball Player of the year (2007, 2008), the Ripon High School team MVP (2007, 2008), Max Preps/AVCA California Player of the Week, and the Trans Valley League MVP in 2007. She received Trans Valley League First-team honors (2005, 2006, 2009). Her teams were able to capture the Trans Valley League Championship in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She played club volleyball for the Delta Valley and Rage. She was on the honor roll from 2005-2009.

Personal: Kirsten is the daughter of Kurt and Laura Duren. Her hobbies include reading, cooking and hanging out with her family. Her career ambition is to be a wife and stay at home mom and eventually open a bed and breakfast.

Reason for coming to Simpson: "It was a perfect fit and everyone was very welcoming."
